Current•Ride with Niagara Regional Police Officers in their vehicles responding to potential mental health related calls•Respond to individuals in crisis situations in the community through crisis counselling and intervention•Complete mental health assessments•Assess risk to the individuals in crisis and to those around them•Recommend measures to help protect the individual or others by developing safety plans•Provide clinical intervention with a sound knowledge of: crisis… Show more •Ride with Niagara Regional Police Officers in their vehicles responding to potential mental health related calls•Respond to individuals in crisis situations in the community through crisis counselling and intervention•Complete mental health assessments•Assess risk to the individuals in crisis and to those around them•Recommend measures to help protect the individual or others by developing safety plans•Provide clinical intervention with a sound knowledge of: crisis intervention, recovery based practice, severe and persistent mental illness and substance use issues, clinical therapeutic interventions (i.e. motivational interviewing, brief solution therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, and trauma informed care), community resources and services, and safety assessment tools.•To ensure support and follow up to individuals in crisis through conducting cross service/sector linkages and acting as a liaison by consulting with family members and other professionals (i.e. psychiatrist, Emergency Department physicians, nursing/allied staff, and community agencies), in direct collaboration and with the consent of the individual being served.•Foster and promote positive change and independence in those individuals served by the program•Promote good public relations and healthy community partnerships and alliances. •Educate the community on the functions of the Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Team•Participates in the preparation and delivery of police Crisis Intervention Training as required•Ensure accurate and timely reports, data entry and documentation in relevant systems (i.e. CRMS) Show less
