I love a good story. As soon as I could read, I binged on novels, newspapers, even the backs of cereal boxes. In college, I pursued this passion further, marrying the art of storytelling with branding by majoring in both Public Relations and Radio-Television-Film. My fervor for stories is matched by my desire to better the world. I was able to focus on both at How Do You Roll? While there, I developed the HDYR? story, engaging consumers with quirky content on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I built relationships with media and bloggers, pitching the HDYR? narrative and tripling media coverage. As for bettering the world, I told consumer anecdotes for our “Better You, By You” branding campaign, highlighting how HDYR? helped improve lives – from an easy family dinner for the on-the-go soccer-mom to the healthy lunch that helped a young professional lose 80lbs.As the brand evolved, I led the creation and execution of the second branding campaign, “We Don’t Judge.” Being a non-traditional sushi place, we invited our customers to eat however they pleased. Chopsticks – awesome! Forks – that’s cool too! With your hands? Go on, you animal. We promised not to judge for that and all other life decisions. With this new messaging, we were able to make the world better by promoting inclusion and tolerance. While in the Peace Corps, I once again found a way to combine my passion for storytelling and dedication to helping others. Through personal development classes, I encouraged secondary students to find their voices and take charge of their own narratives. Along the way, I blogged my own journey, full of trials and triumphs, connecting with readers globally.Stateside once again, I’m looking for opportunities to build brands and grow companies, bringing them to life through content and connecting them with the consumer. Bonus points for having a social impact in the process.
