I have always been intrigued by details and understanding small parts that make up the whole. This soon translated into a desire to engage in research and a passion for analyzing problems – something that has remained a constant.I received my BA from Northwestern University where I majored in political science and sociology, minoring in environmental policy and culture. As a member on a research team, I worked on a ‘collaborative event ethnography’ qualitative project on environmental justice and indigenous voice. I worked with visual data and:- Created Metadata for visual data of 400+ images- Created coding scheme on a subset of dataA passion for human rights and equality led me to engage in research on conditions of public support for immigration restriction in the contemporary U.S. with a faculty member, where I:- Collected public opinion data- Collected immigrant demographic data – U.S. Census across mult. years- Constructed a dataset on immigrant demographics & change over time- Ran preliminary analyses of survey data in RI further explored race and immigration in a 100+ page honors thesis on race, Congressional representation, and immigration reform. A quantitative project, I constructed an original 2000+ observation dataset and analyzed five immigration roll call votes – 109th & 111th Congresses. I used logit regressions on two primary models and ran a series of regression and non-regression analyses in other models.My research pursuits have been guided by deeply-held passions on racial equality, political participation and representation, social/political justice, human rights, public policy, diversity, and community advancement.
