I am an Assistant Research Professor with the Oregon Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Center and Department of Horticulture at Oregon State University. My work focuses on modeling climate-driven changes in phenology and geographic distributions of species under historical, current, and future climates to support the protection of agricultural and natural ecosystems. Presently, I develop models and modeling tools for the USPest.org decision-support system that provide insight into when and where to expect pests, their crop hosts, and their natural enemies. This information supports efforts to detect invasive species before they establish or spread, to decrease pest pressure, and to release and manage beneficial species. I have also investigated patterns and drivers of vegetation change through time, genetic variation associated with range expansions and endemism, and historical and topographic drivers of island biodiversity.
