I am a graduate student From San Jose State University where I obtained my degree in Food Science and Applied Nutrition. My love for food, the environment and my community's health makes this field a great fit for me. My passion is helping others and creating a healthy community for new generations to flourish. I have worked in food service for 20+ years as a cook and restaurant server/manager. My passion for food transitioned to nutrition while working as the Lead Student Organizer at De Anza College. While at De Anza I organized the Campus Cupboard, a project dedicated to providing food to students in need.After I transferred to San Jose State University, I began working as a Lead Student Educator, as well as the campus dietitian's assistant. I developed programming to educate peers in affordable, healthy eating and presented numerous workshops on the importance of plants in your diet.I co-created the campus organization, B.I.N. (Body Image & Nutrition). B.I.N. is dedicated to empowering students and community members to eat healthy and promote positive body image. I worked as a Wellness Ambassador through WHISK, Wellness & Health Inspired student Kitchens. As an ambassador, I worked in partnership with the Campus Garden by promoting garden ingredients though social media. I preformed cooking demos, as well as created content focusing on healthy eating for students of all backgrounds.
