This position supports the USASP professional society. This society includes a diversity of scientists, researchers, and clinicians with a combined interest in pain research and drug development. In addition to an annual symposium the society also supports and fosters career development at the early, mid, and late career stages. Individuals can participate in the function of the society through a variety of leadership opportunities and collaborations can be fostered through participation in one or more of the Special Interest Groups (SIGs).

This program is run out of the CT AHEC office located at the University of Connecticut Health Center. JSHS is a collaborative program with the US Department of Defense to promote STEM research and education in students grades 9-12. Students representing local high schools in the CT area present their research (oral, poster, and exhibition) and can win scholarship money. Highest competitors are given the opportunity to advance to nationals for competition. 2022 competition will be held March 5th virtually.

Beyond the PhD is a volunteer-based group of graduate students and early career professionals to support career development in STEM by providing a Career Discovery seminar series that features hot careers include those that require and do not require graduate training, an annual networking event among career professionals and trainees, as well as career development workshops put on by professionals as well as our Team. In my role, I am responsible for coordinating weekly team meeting, planning online seminars, workshops, and networking events. I created and manage the AIOG website (est. 2019), link below. I also manage the twitter account @aiog_ct, linkedin and Facebook pages. This 2-month internship consisted of several communications pieces including blog articles and pod cast/ interviews. These SciComm pieces were published on the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP)'s Pain Research Forum (PRF) blog page.

The UConn-NIDCR T90/R90 Research Training Program at the UConn School of Dental Medicine supports the training of individuals preparing to be independent scientists in academics, industry and government, and related careers. The program primarily focuses on skeletal, craniofacial and oral biology research.

I am discovering novel drug formulations using biomaterial drug delivery systems that aim to improve the efficacy of local analgesics for managing musculoskeletal pain.

Dimensions Sciences is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed on November 21, 2019 with the mission to support minorities in science by creating opportunities for higher education in the US and abroad. As a Business Development Intern, I attended teleconference meetings and participated in training and projects with respect to business development, fundraising, public outreach, and online events. I helped to create an Ambassador program (DS-CAMPUS) that promotes diversity by creating content about traditionally underrepresented groups in science. I also organized, planned and moderated a couple open forum discussions that discussed the importance of diversity in science and STEM as a whole.

Summer internship structured around the principle of venture capitalism. We learned how to conduct due diligence for healthcare and life science companies.

I was responsible for collecting and inputting large data sets for a five year ecological study of the dolphin population post-Hurricane Katrina

For two summers I worked in Dr. Roger Thompson's lab at Franklin and Marshall helping to conduct cognitive psychology studies on Capuchin monkeys.
