Working primarily at Wilder Ranch, Natural Bridges, Lighthouse Field, and the North Coast Dairies beaches north of Santa Cruz. Senior Park Aid responsibilities are extremely varied and include a variety of maintenance projects, computerized accounting and financial reporting, supervision of Service Aids, response to medical emergencies, ordering and requisitioning supplies, providing information for park visitors, and other tasks as requested by Ranger staff. Senior Aids must be willing and able to perform strenuous physical labor, as many of the tasks required by the position can be physically challenging. Aids are also expected to be professional and courteous with park visitors as they disseminate information and explain park rules both in person and on the phone. Use of a public safety radio is necessary and all radio traffic is expected to be concise and professional.

Providing customer service for park visitors by providing information about the parks, answering questions visitors may have, and registering campers. Requires effective communication between peace officers, visitor aide supervisors, and customers. Operates cash register and completes banking close-out paperwork unsupervised.

My job responsibilities at the Center for Collaborative Conservation include student and stakeholder outreach concerning ongoing conservation efforts. I promote events, opportunities, and news on the CCC's website, social media outlets, newsletters, and on-campus poster boards. I attend student society meetings and CCC executive meetings to connect with a diverse audience about collaborative conservation. I also mentor a CSU freshman on how to be an effective environmental communications specialist.

My time with the Conservation Lands Foundation challenged me to create engaging media to advocate for the protection, restoration, and expansion of National Conservation Lands. I created comprehensive summaries about each of the National Conservation Land units for the Foundation's website as well as blog pieces and weekly newsletters. I participated in several staff conference calls, traveled to and photographed individual land units, and learned the fundamentals of working for a non-profit organization.

My goal for this position is to encourage environmental literacy among students as I raise awareness about current environmental events, clear any misunderstandings students may have about environmental topics, and inspire student participation in the environmental/political community. This position permits me to be flexible, introspective, original, and resourceful as I publish a new article once a week.

As a graduate student’s assistant, I utilize my strategic thinking abilities as I creatively compose and present posters about our research at various University symposiums. My presentations focus on both environmental and social implications of current political practices in Tibet. Aside from presentations, I've gained lab skills such as soil analysis, plant tissue analysis, and data collection from the field. I can adequately operate and interpret the results from several large lab machines including the LECO and Carlo Erba.
