Support the work of the Calgary Ability Network (CAN). CAN is a collaborative of community organizations and advocates from the disability community. CAN strives to strengthen the disability sector, influence and advance policy/decision making and address systemic barriers. We work to improve the lives of persons with disabilities through the following working tables: Human Rights, Transportation, Poverty Reduction, Recreation and Newcomers with Disabilities. Work with the disability sector and the greater community to contribute towards bringing about social change and improve the quality of lives of person with disabilities. Identify community needs, pose collective actions, and implement services and projects that serve the community. Act as a link between communities and a range of organisations, school boards, local and provincial government and the community at large.

Key focus areas include: healthy eating, injury prevention and control, reducing health disparities and inequalities, sexual health, reducing harmful impacts of alcohol and tobacco control.

Child Safety Link (CSL) is an injury prevention program at the IWK Health Centre dedicated to reducing the incidence and severity of unintentional injury to children and youth in the Maritimes. CSL is committed to working with community organizations, governments and other partners to ensure children are as safe as necessary at home, on the road and at play. The team does this through capacity building & partnerships; communication and public relations; advocacy and healthy public policy; and research and evaluation.
