About Brittney L.

Brittney Lee is a Kinship Care Case Managing Specialist + DEI Facilitator, Lived Expertise Consultant, and member of the Child Welfare and Racial Equity Collaborative. Having experienced over seventeen foster placements in the span of just over seventeen years of her childhood, their current aspiration is to utilize their growth and knowledge gained from resilience, community involvement and employment opportunities with youth who have experienced foster care and child welfare practitioners. Brittney consistently involve themselves in community conversations on child welfare and engages in opportunities where they can increase their understanding on how to best leverage their experience and meet their goals. They want to be the person they needed when they were younger and overall remind us all again just how deeply sacred children and young people are.One of their major goals is to become more educated on the subject of racial disproportionality in the child welfare system. Brittney hopes to work to come up with solutions to counteract racial inequality and institutionalized, structural racism that affects all youth involved in child welfare systems today. To those seeking to connect or potentially employ:Through a blend of my ancestry, lived experience, formal & informal education and more, I excel in policy writing & public speaking, relationship building, youth and family advocacy & program development, community leadership and trauma-informed care and more.I am seeking opportunities to manage/coordinate youth and family programs that are social-emotional learning and trauma-sensitive based. I enjoy public speaking, being on panels, and I am always interested in intro-level law and policy writing positions, research or workshop building, grant writing, policy writing and youth support positions. Lastly, I am passionate about both conference, campaign and organizational building.I especially want to be able to advocate for all foster youth and give special focus to foster youth who have no one else willing to go above and beyond to speak for them and their rights. I am seeking career opportunities to advocate for, serve and empower primarily foster youth, but for youth of color, youth experiencing and/or at risk of homelessness, undocumented youth and/or LGBTQIA2-S+ youth as well as many other vulnerable populations.
