Burgers and Bibles is a volunteer driven 501c3 sponsored, non-profit organization serving the homeless in Chicago, Orange County and Los Angeles’s Skid Row. They seek to serve in the cities with the greatest homeless population, in the most concentrated areas. They do so by feeding them not just tangible food, burgers, but also spiritual food bibles, prayer, and conversation, just to name a few. This diverse group young, thoughtful, loving and committed volunteers from around the city go out to Skid Row every first and third Wednesday of each month and literally hang out with and spread love to the homeless! Their unique yet practical loving approach breaks the walls of the homeless and builds lasting relationships. The relationships, trust and bonds that has been formed has proven to be effective in reaching the hearts of the homeless and renewing their mind to recognize their personal need for change. The youthful and energetic group can easily be spotted on Skid Row praying with the homeless, encouraging them and speaking into their lives all in hopes of connecting them with their life’s purpose and encouraging them to rise out of poverty! Love, hope, conversation, prayer and encouragement are often times overlooked but have the ability to change a life forever! In addition, Burgers and Bibles connects’ the homeless to local programs and shelters specific to their individual needs. During the first year of existence, Burgers and Bibles has fed, given bibles to, ministered to, encouraged and prayed with over 5,000 homeless people! Over 3,000 men and women received a bible for the first time and the outreach has implemented chapters in both Orange County and Chicago where lives are also being transformed! Burgers and Bibles is in the process of expanding to Burgers and Bibles, Hollywood, Santa Monica and San Francisco!! Burgers and Bibles aspires’ to grow from just an outreach, to facility that caters to the holistic needs of homeless Americans.
