I am a freelance brand strategist who spent the past 15+ years working at Wieden+Kennedy, arguably the best advertising agency in the world. During that time I led strategy for Old Spice (13 years), Kentucky Fried Chicken (7 years), Coke, Starbucks, Supercell, TurboTax and more. My work for Old Spice revitalized the brand, culminating in “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like,” which won a truckload of awards, including the Grand EFFIE and Gold for Creative Effectiveness at Cannes. My travels with P&G also took me to India, Brazil, Russia and China as we developed regionally relevant ways to help young guys navigate the seas of manhood. More recently, I helped Kentucky Fried Chicken rediscover its heart and soul. Our creative work was named Advertising Age’s “Campaign of the Year” in 2018, and the brand recorded six years of same store sales growth. I also worked with KFC to reposition their brand at the global level, which helped to bring cohesion and clarity to disparate marketing efforts around the world. My style is practical and creatively driven. My tolerance for bullshit is low, and I love to inspire provocative work. I’m skilled at brand positioning, creative briefs, consumer research, product innovation and ideation. I am a collaborator, proud mentor and evergreen student of pop culture. Diversity, equity and inclusion are very important to me, and I’m always looking for ways to lift up those who do not enjoy the same privileges that I do.
