Hiv Program Manager
Tasked with designing and developing the organization’s first HIV prevention and outreach program that linked patients with positive HIV diagnoses to care, increased PrEP usage and HIV testing across 9 health centers. Federally funded by the Ending the HIV Epidemic Grant.Program Development• Identified and closed the knowledge gaps of primary care physicians, nurses and medical assistants by arranging the necessary clinical training to ensure that they are well equipped to identify candidates for PrEP, care for PrEP patients, while also providing high quality care for individuals diagnosed with HIV.• Developed interpersonal standards for providers that made conversations more comfortable and less stigmatizing for patients around the topics of sex and HIV prevention. Advocated for policies that supported patient health.• Collaborated with interdepartmental directors to developed workflows for all relevant staff from community health workers, nurses and medical assistants to ensure sexual health education is integrated into the patient experience at relevant touch points.• Initiated rapid HIV testing and coordinated medical device training for 200 clinicians across all facilities to allow for more efficient testing within our clinics and at outreach events.Community and Patient Engagement• Oversaw and devised curriculum for community health navigators to teach community health classes and educate diverse members of the community on HIV prevention and provide guidance as they navigate patients through care. • Developed strategies to increase awareness through marketing campaigns, building relationships with external organizations, and partaking in community events.
