I am the manager responsible for the retail billing and day to day production, customer facing, systems at Vodacom South Africa, the largest mobile telephone company in South Africa.Primary responibilities include ensuring the accurate and timeous billing of approx 5 million contract subscribers, bill production and presentation and automated collection systems as well as ensuring that the provisioning of services on these customers is correct from both a customer service and revenue assurance point of view. In addition I am extensively involved in new product definitions, ensuring that business rules are catered for and adhered to, and most importantly, that we can actually bill for these accurately.I support the internal accounting systems used within the service provider company, ensuring that debtors, creditors, cash, stock, inventory and GL are all in synch.Extensive knowledge of our product range, and how they interact with each other, and the multitude of business rules that govern these interactions, as well as an ability to view the entire system as a whole, as opposed to a collection of discrete applications, means that I am constantly in deamnd when introducing new products, processes or applications.Managing a team of highly skilled people, many of them industry experts in their field, brings another dimension to my day to day work.Currently very active in a long term project to migrate the whole OSS/BSS to a new stack and ensure that current business abilities are not lost for the sake of aligning to a new systems architecture, whilst allowing for optimal flexibility in the future.
