Summer Intern
The Hub Tv Network
United States
The summer of my freshman year at Emerson College, I was accepted into the Emma Bowen Foundation. It is a scholarship and internship program for minority interests in the media, and it was through this program where I was placed at The Hub Network--now known as the Discovery Family Channel. As the sole returning summer intern for the network, I had the opportunity to rotate through a number of departments to gain a diverse experience upon graduating. In 2011 I interned under the office of the CEO, Margaret Loesch, where I executed a number of special projects on the administrative level. In addition to assisting the Executive Office, I also assisted with Programming and Development where I wrote script coverage and screened incoming director reels. For my second summer I assisted both Public Relations and Broadcast Standards and Practices. I helped with the 2012 San Diego Comic Con Campaign both in the pre-planning process and on-sight event execution, while balancing various tasks for standards and practices. Through BSNP I was educated in the FCC regulations specifically for children’s programming, and applied that to the approval of outgoing on air promotions, animatics, and incoming script material. Summer of 2013, my last summer at The Hub, I interned for the Digital Entertainment department. There I worked with all the social media platforms, where I created a Vine campaign for their newest acquisition, "Alf". I was also trusted with writing content for their homepage, managed the online scheduling, and assembled the images and contents for their upcoming seasonal web stunts. Based on my outstanding performance at The Hub and maintaining a cumulative G.P.A. above a 3.0, I was nominated for Student of the Year once completing my internship program with The Emma Bowen Foundation in 2014.
