My responsibilities include…

Assisted in construction of level pads at SMR for the Newlyestablished workshop area and office block. My team and I looked after the site road delineation, signage and painting of dump tyres. We also helped out our Mine Services Projects department (Civil work) with any spotting or compaction testing ect.

During my time with drill and blast my main role was to take samples of material during the drilling process for the client to send away to the labs. I also assisted the driller with clean up tasks on the drill rig. Whilst the drill rig was in the waste areas I learnt to operate the SKF drill rigs. there was also some other task required to assist with such as refilling the rigs with water, marking up patterns and assisting the blast crew when required.

During my time as a Dump Truck operator I operated 777F & 777D haul trucks for the fixed plant services department. I enjoyed my time driving Haul Trucks and the personnel i met in my first year in mining.

Assisting the environment department at BIS industries with Fork lift operations and Wheel loader work around all of One steel Whyalla's departments.

As an operator for One steel I drove rail line based machines at the Coke Ovens. I was competant and experianced on all machines. I then moved over to the BI-Products department where I looked after the sulfate plant and Tar plant removing unwanted products from the Coke Ovens gas. Once I was experianced in both these departments I learnt to operate the 2 Steam turbines used to extract the Gas from the battery made whilst cooking the Coke.
