Profile bio

About Kayla Brock

I am a 2022 graduate of The George Washington University earning a Bachelor of Arts - BA focused in Political Science as well as a double minor in International Affairs and Journalism & Mass Communications. I am also a 2018-2019 alumna of the Elizabeth J. Somers Women's Leadership Program. As Co-President on the Executive Board of GW Leading Women of Tomorrow, I have led a wide variety of projects aimed at bridging the gender gap among public representatives. I have been personally responsible for recruiting key speakers for our Career Development Panels as well as the creation of video campaigns for our social media that feature women running for office from across the country. This position has refined my strong event programming skills as well as my team leadership and interpersonal communications abilities. In my unique internship at The Hill, I got the opportunity to work at Rising, a daily news and opinion web series produced by Hill.TV. I aided the production team with the creation of graphics and curated daily research for the anchors Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti. This experience was extremely beneficial in developing my research skills and it also taught me how to produce quality work while on a deadline. My volunteer experience and eventual Executive Board position with Swing Left GWU has also been essential in molding my interest in politics. I had previously interned with the Dan McCready Special Election Campaign as my first professional experience with Democratic politics. I have since refined this passion for electing Democrats to office through letter-writing, phone banking, and canvassing events with Swing Left. I have also assumed the Partnership & Coalitions Director after our official formation as an on-campus organization, tasked with reaching out to the community for co-sponsorships and involving other Swing Left Chapters in the DMV area.--Looking to Explore: Government & Politics, Campaigns & Elections, Communications, and Journalism
