In recent years, I have been blessed with enriching opportunities that have taught me priceless lessons and eye-opening experiences. To start my exciting adventure of adulthood, I chose to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. With what could have been an uncomfortable transition from enjoying the comforts of my familiar home to the unique outskirts of Guatemala, curiosity and compassion fueled my efforts to serve and teach. From being exposed to Central American culture for approximately two years, I gained larger respect for people, beliefs, and cultures different from my own. I am fluent in Spanish, with the desire to enhance my understanding of the foreign. Outside of my religious services, I have worked alongside many organizations and businesses to increase my skillsets and move along my path to finding my career. I have been working part-time with the City of St. George as a Tennis and Pickleball Instructor and Attendant for four years. I have led and instructed groups of children aged 4-18 and adults. I have directed dozens of tournaments and league-style play consisting of 100+ players. This job gave me the confidence to teach individuals that are younger, and older, and my peers. For three months during the summer, I worked for Utah Behavior Services as a Behavior Technician. I worked one-on-one with multiple clients that varied in age (6-16). The clients' clinicians provided them with specific behavior plans which outlined certain target behaviors that needed to be cultivated and others that needed to be halted. From working with such amazing youth, I grew in compassion, patience, creativity, and responsibility. Another organization I have had the pleasure of working with is Innovative Harbor, a state-wide team that dedicates to providing adults with disabilities the opportunities to flourish in the community, in their homes, and their workplaces. For six months I worked full-time alongside these special individuals and provided mental, emotional, and physical support in their activities and tasks. I was a Day Group Services Lead and organized classroom lessons, activities, and community outings to develop their intellectual and social skills. I also provided job coaching in their places of work to ensure they were giving their all. I am currently working as a part-time peer coach for Trula Campus Coaching, an organization devoted to providing free wellness coaching for college students throughout Utah. I have been coaching my peers for a year and has taught me open-mindedness and listening skills.
