Designed the accumulator box (HV box) needed to house 600+ lithium-ion cells along with smaller HV components and PCBs all while maintaining proper safe electrical insulation and fusing. The box is designed in SolidWorks to be easily manufactured through water jet cutting, bending, and welding to be easily constructed by the team. All physical requirements of withstanding forces of 40g as described in the FSAE rule book were additionally proved through the use of FEA static simulations in SolidWorksThrough extensive research and proper test plan documentation, found the optimal lithium ion 18650 cells to be used in the design of the team's accumulator to achieve requirements of 400V while maintaining below 60 C ambient temperature.Routed and developed a wire harnessing map for all electrical connections found within the Accumulator box using Rapid harness and excelDesigns made: Phantom 1 (2020-2021), Phantom 2 (2021-2022)

As the team lead, I am responsible for managing the power team, running weekly meetings, keeping deadlines, and assisting members with each of their various projects. I have introduced a more prototyping approach to development to provide members with hands-on experience working on their projects. This is done with a system of 3 design phases; initial design, standalone testing, integration testing. Using this 3 phase system, members have kept clearer documentation and adopted an iterative mindset where failure is seen as something to learn from rather than become frustrated with.As new members join, I take them through a crash course for onboarding teaching basic skills from reading schematics and PCB design, to soldering and developing proper test plans. This leaves new members with the confidence to learn more and try to complete tasks on their own.
