In November of 1988 I enlisted in the Louisiana Army National Guard in Lake Charles, Louisiana. I graduated from Westlake High School, Westlake, LA, in May of 1989. In June of that same year, I shipped out to Ft. Leonardwood Missouri where I completed Basic Infantry Training in August. By December of 1989, I had completed Advanced Individual Training at the United States Army Armor School at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and I headed back home as a freshly trained 63 T Bradley Fighting Vehicle Mechanic. My freshman year at McNeese State University began in January of 1990. In November of 1990, my unit, HHC 3/156th Infantry (Mechanized), was called up to active duty at Ft. Hood, TX by President George Bush in support of Operation Desert Shield / Storm. In May of 1991, I returned to McNeese to finish my degree. I completed my Bachelor of Science Degree in May of 1996, and in November of that same year, I completed my enlistment of 6 years active duty and 2 years on IRR (Individual Ready Reserve) and I was honorably discharged from the armed services. In 1999, I moved to Glendale Arizona to pursue a career in teaching. In August of 2004, I completed a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Phoenix. I taught middle school Science and Math at public schools in the Phoenix area from 2000 - 2018. Currently, I am an independent contractor working as a facilities auditor for Shiftsmart. My skills and experience include typing 85 WPM, customer service, data base management, event organizing, classroom management, conflict resolution, google apps administration, office and clerical skills, Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, Dropbox, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Moodle, Adobe Connect, Blackboard Academic Suite, Study Island, Accelerated Math, Accelerated Reader, and a host of other educational technology platforms. I have also taught college level Ecology and Environmental Science and I have created original digital content for virtual science courses in grades 3-12.My hobbies include comparative religion, philosophy, cultural anthropology, world history, music of all sorts, anything outdoors, cooking, and fishing. I live in Rosepine, Louisiana with my beautiful wife, two dogs, and one cat.Awards include The Army Achievement Metal for Meritorious Service, National Defense Service Metal, Humanitarian Service Metal, and an ING Unsung Heroes Award and Grant for Innovative Teaching. I am also an alumnus and founding member of the Theta Rho Chapter, Theta Chi Fraternity at McNeese State University.
