As a former government communications director, I've been there, done that when it comes to public relations. My firm, Bronlea M Consulting, leverages lessons learned from high-stakes communication efforts to help support the next generation of government communicators. Whether it's strategic planning, crisis communications training, or social media best practices, I can help set you and your agency up for success.During the SR 530 landslide in March 2014, I managed Snohomish County's social media accounts and created the popular #530slide hashtag to manage information and dispel rumors. I've been asked to speak to numerous local and state groups regarding effective use of social media for crisis communications, and have partnered with local university professors to share my experiences for upcoming case studies and textbooks. I've also managed crisis communication efforts for the 2014 MPHS school shooting, the 2016 Cascade Mall shooting, a politically sensitive regional oil protest, and several weather-related emergencies.I have a master’s degree in education and am a FEMA-certified instructor for the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center and FEMA's Emergency Management Institute. I deliver social media, crisis communication, public information basics, and flood hazard training and serve as a subject-matter expert for FEMA course curriculum development and recertification.
