I was responsible for running the heat treatment department including supervising eight skilled operators. This included scheduling the order in which batches of a variety of different parts were loaded into furnaces for their various multi-stage heat treatment operations, to ensure the department was hitting our productivity and throughput targets as well as ensuring downstream departments received a part mix that would allow them to keep their machines running efficiently. This included scheduling the order in which batches of a variety of different parts were loaded into furnaces for their various multi-stage heat treatment operations, to ensure the department was hitting our productivity and throughput targets as well as ensuring downstream departments received a part mix that would allow them to keep their machines running efficiently. My other responsibilities included ensuring my department remained compliant with the rigorous aerospace quality standards, planning and organising shifts, overtime and holidays and striving to set a new standard for safety, quality and 6S through working closely with my team. I also completed several continuous improvement projects to improve the productivity and reduce the overall costs of the department. Show less

Within the Test and Development team I had the opportunity to be heavily involved with an advanced technology development project, continually testing and updating designs and software based on conclusions drawn from the collected data, with the aim of producing a production viable device that would add value to current production machines. I also presented the results and future plans for this project to the Vice President of the business sector I was working within at Caterpillar.
