Throughout my educational career, I have always had a special interest in the arts. Going into college, English appealed to me the greatest so I began my studies as an English major. After obtaining an Associates degree in English, I applied and eventually attended the Communication Studies program at California State University, Long Beach. It was this program that taught me some of the most valuable tools and lessons I had ever learned. Communication Studies focuses on effective communication through both verbal and nonverbal channels. This program taught me a wide array of communication skills ranging from public speaking to conflict management. I have learned how to respectively and effectively communicate whether through computer mediated means or in-person interaction. During my college career I have had part time jobs in both the sales and customer service industry. Currently I am a server where my interpersonal skills are practiced daily. As my education progressed, so did my success in the workplace. Today, my colleagues and superiors would speak to that growth and my importance to the company. Communication is an invaluable skill set which has shown to be incredibly useful through every aspect of my life.
