Provides technical and supportive coaching to young athletes, ages 6-20+, in accordance with the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and Canadian Swimming Coaches Association (CSCA). Understands and teaches athletes the rules of competitive swimming, as outlined by the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA). Leads in the strategic planning and administration of the club. Supervises, mentors and trains the coaches of the Whitehorse Glacier Bears

Develops, implements and monitors HR policies, processes, and systems that aligns with the Canada Labour Code and supports the functional operations of YESAB. Participates as a member of the Senior Management Team in developing goals, objective, and priorities for YESAB. Provides direction and decision making in all HR functions, such as recruitment, onboarding and orientation, organizational design, classification and compensation, employee performance, disciplinary matters, and complaint resolution. Analyzes YESAB’s human capital and develops processes for employee career development and succession planning. Researches evidence-based practices and incorporates data where applicable

Manages the daily operations of the Human Resource branch. This includes providing leadership, direction and training to HR Staff as it relates to HR management functions, such as: accommodations, complex staffing, employee and labour relations, organizational design and development, change management, and other related items as presented Provides leadership, advice, direction and solutions to the department’s Deputy Minister and Senior Management team. This includes ensuring compliance with related legislation, regulations, directives, policies, and procedures Develops, revises or recommends revisions to HR policies, procedures and instruments where appropriate

Manages a diverse portfolio within the department of Health and Social Services; 9 separate program areas totaling over 150 employees. Works within the parameters set out by applicable acts, regulation and policies, such as Public Service Act and Canadian Human Rights Act, as well as the Collective Agreement between Government of Yukon and Yukon Employees Union. Provides consultation and recommendations to Senior Managements in all HR related functions (accommodations, complex staffing, employee and labour relations, organizational design and development, change management)

Participates as a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters Yukon (BBBSY) in board meetings, fundraisers, and organizational events. Collaboratively establishes policies that guide the organization in achieving its mandate. This includes contributing to the process of establishing strategic direction for the agency. Participates in the evaluation process, established by the Board, of the Executive Director, Mentor Coordinator, staff, and BBBSY programs. Maintains role as BBBSY Secretary, who is responsible for capturing relevant decisions and activity of the board in meeting minutes and distributes them to members and the public
