UC is well through its large and challenging capital works program in its recovery after the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes. I joined the team in 2013 to bring strategic procurement knowledge and skills in the establishment of resources for efficient delivery, embedding good practice, sourcing and negotiation of major project contracts as well as coaching and advising team members. I have taken an organisation wide view to procurement opportunities and the resulting supply arrangements have provided a catalyst for the implementation of numerous policy and procedural work-streams through a continuous improvement effort. I am part of the business case development team guiding and validating major investment decisions - my particular focus are the commercial chapters in which the value proposition and risk management are explained. I maintain an interest in sustainable outcomes through the procurement process and have established new benchmarks for sustainable product specifications and service delivery.

I am part of a small team with an immediate priority to deliver the procurement reform program, including development and communication of policy, good practice, procedures and associated resources. Current projects include:• REOI Small Works Building Contractor Panel – establish a panel of pre-qualified building works contractors for $10Mp.a. program of ‘small works projects’;• RFT Trades Services Hourly Rates Panels – establish panels for various trades’ services providing reactive maintenance services. Total value $2.6M p.a.• RFT for four universities $15 million p.a. airline services;• UTS primary contact for ‘Supply Nation’ (formerly Australian Indigenous Minority Supply Council – AIMSC). Promoting utilisation of certified indigenous owned suppliers for procurement activities at UTS;

Working with the APRA IT team to source and manage IT related spend:• Negotiate, guide and support strategic sourcing exercises with IT Services Group;• Probity advice and compliance with government procurement policy and guidelines. • $2.2 million outsourced services to build, maintain and support a National Claims and Policies Database using cloud servicing: contract structure and negotiations.• $30 million IT Services Panel - panel of contract and consultant providers to service APRAs business technical architecture for up to 8 years

I am particularly engaged by the opportunities procuring large contracts present in embedding sustainabilty criteria and aims to the very core of the specification rather than trying to ameliorate the worst impacts after the contract is signed.After working in facilities management and the tertiary sector for a number of years and implementing a range of contracts with specific and measurable sustainability criteria, I am certain such contracts deliver great value and continued innovation to the business.
