In collaboration with colleagues at both the University of Guelph and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs, I managed a unique and interesting knowledge mobilization program. Included in this program was a 'knowledge translation and transfer' or KTT funding program which was aimed at getting science off the shelf and into the hands of people and organizations who need this information. As the manager for the Knowledge Mobilization program, I was responsible for the development, implementation, and management of this unique knowledge transfer funding program. This involved consulting with researchers, staying current with innovative KTT trends and best practices, and developing strong relationships with multiple stakeholders throughout the agri-food sector.
Senior Research Scientist
As a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Land Resource Science at the University of Guelph, my primary area of focus was the study of farmland loss in Ontario and policies for the preservation of prime farmland and viable agricultural systems.My second main area of interest was the equine industry in Ontario and I conducted two studies on the role of the equine sector in the Ontario agricultural landscape. Through this work, I developed partnerships with Equine Guelph, the Toronto Region Conservation Authority, OMAFRA, and others to develop and deliver a series of 'Healthy Lands for Healthy Horses".
