I spent 20 years working in restaurants. I started bussing tables when I was 15, then waitressing, cooking, bartending, and restaurant management, enjoying the fast pace but also effectively managing labor, food costs, customer concerns, and reconciling money. I discovered I love people, thrive at multi-tasking, and value teamwork. I outgrew the food service industry and worked as a para-educator for one year in special education. I gained increased empathy and understanding of disabled populations. I was offered a wonderful entry level job at the YMCA. I could put my love of people and desire to serve to use. I was promoted over time and now manage a budget over 250,000, over 30 paid staff and several volunteers, with my focus on member engagement and satisfaction- I lead our team by facilitating the development and support of amazing and dedicated co-workers. In my role I am privileged to provide programming for folks who are battling cancer and Parkinson's disease. I've developed fundraising skills as well. I'm looking to put my people focused skills to work in an environment that helps people. I'm reliable and have the capacity to manage big projects, but I'm just as happy helping one person have a better day.
