I am a senior Geospatial Data Science and Anthropology student at the University of Maryland. My academic journey and professional growth have been shaped by a combination of valuable experiences and skill development. I am very interested in human components of environmental change- for which my backgrounds in GIS and anthropology complement each other well.In my current role as a student researcher in Dr. Madeline Brown's TREKS project, I specialize in the analysis of Maryland trail names and environmental stewardship, honing my skills in quantitative analysis. The project is to lay the groundwork for place name analysis to be done at multiple different levels and areas. I have also had the opportunity to submit the project to the SfAA conference, providing me with insights into project creation and publication. I also work in Dr. Hambrecht's zooarchaeology lab, which has allowed me to learn photogrammetry as well as bone identification, lab safety, and cataloging. I was fortunate to participate in a field school with the UMD Anthropology department in Skibbereen, Ireland, where I gained hands-on experience in excavation, archaeological lab techniques, and mapping, particularly in profile and plane view. Moreover, my coursework at UMD has allowed me to become proficient in Python and proficient in geospatial software such as QGIS and Geomatica for remote sensing. Specifically looking at land use and components of environmental change.Before my academic journey, I gained experience in both hospitality and manual labor positions. These roles provided me with essential skills in time management, customer service, and work ethic.
