For over seven years, I have dedicated my career to teaching students. As a secondary Social Studies/Electives teacher for an Alternative High School, I used multiple learning strategies, I developed and implemented extra curricular clubs for grades 9-12. I also conducted teacher workshops, advised students on educational and career goals, and built collaborative relationships with teachers, staff, parents, and students to foster academic success. In recognition of my work, I received the “Teacher of the Year” for academic learning gainsAs a special education teacher, I High School Self-Contained and Elementary Resource Room and co-taught 4th grade Close Reading and Math. I also managed a caseload of 15+ students. I wrote and implemented Individual Educational Plans (IEP) for students, including recording and evaluating goals. My academic achievements include a Masters Degree in The Art of Teaching from RELAY Graduate School of Education and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Wesley College. In 2022, after completing the SPED Fellowship program, I earned a teaching license in Special Education. Also in 2022, I obtained a teaching license in Social Studies - Secondary 7-12.To further my expertise in education, I enrolled in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Program at KIPP-DC. As a result of this program, I gained practical knowledge in Culturally Relevant Teaching and Anti-Racism in the Education Setting.
