I have a B.A. in Environmental Studies with a focus in Sustainable Communities from California State University, Monterey Bay. During my time there I studied a wide variety of subjects from Environmental Biology to Intro to GIS/GPS to Collaborative leadership and Community Building. I have been introduced to LEED certifications, city planning and so much more. I have worked with GIS mapping, transect data collection and I have even worked on a project with the Monterey Bay Aquarium collecting data and coming up with a plan to solve trash pollution problem in the area. I also had the opportunity to study abroad in Spain for a semester my Junior year. I was mostly taking Spanish classes in school while I was there, however I believe I learned so much more outside of the classroom than in it. I had the opportunity to see how cities outside of the United States are built, I got to tour so many different forms of Architecture and to see how people live in these communities. The Spanish culture is so very different than what I was used to and I cherish the time that I had to spend there. My time in school was mostly focused around learning about the environment. I learned about plant species, the oceans, rock formations and some of the political side of environmentalism as well. While I do not have a specific title set yet on how I would like to use my degree I do know that I am a very creative person. I am constantly repurposing and reusing things and I love giving new life to disregarded objects. So, combining my creativity and passion for repurposing with my studies in Environmental Studies, I can become a true asset to any team trying to think outside of the box and be leaders in the field.
