From a young age, my confidence, passions, and opportunities have stemmed from my ability to think analytically and problem solve. These skills, along with the desire to help others, had drawn me to the actuarial field coming into college. Still, my courses and recent opportunities keep me anticipating the next step in my professional career. As an actuarial intern, I was able to learn more about the process of creating and updating life insurance products. With the use of Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic, I created surrender charges for Universal Life products, which were eventually used in the product's re-filing. I was able to excel as the financial executive for Alpha Omicron Pi- Zeta chapter because of my ability to be flexible, organized, and think creatively. During a year of economic hardship, I strategically cut costs and built an entirely new budget in excel that was precise and easy to understand. This opportunity has strengthened my technical skills in office products and furthered my desire to manage products and work collaboratively with others towards a common goal. This experience has helped me continue the momentum of achieving into the Business Honors Academy. This competitive program brings together highly motivated individuals throughout the College of Business to take cohort-based courses and participate in unique professional opportunities. Only a year after joining, I have expanded my network and pursued newfound interests that I have found because of a more personal educational atmosphere. Above all else, I use my drive and motivation to follow my passions and make a difference in my community. I am currently majoring in Actuarial Science with minors in Finance, Accounting, and Mathematics at UNL. I have completed exam FM/2 and hope to pass P/1 in January.
