•Monitor compliance with terms and conditions of funding agreements •Report on and manage overall and individual budgets•Develop, & assist with implementation of, work programs in consultation with the coordinators and rangers•Participate in regular planning and review of work programs•Assist rangers to undertake consultations with traditional owners and other affected Aboriginal groups with respect to land and sea management activities, and represent their views to the NLC and other stakeholders.•Provide advocacy for, and advice and assistance to, coordinators and rangers preparing submissions, fundingProposals, and make representations to gov/t and non-gov/t agencies relevant to land and sea management.•Maintain a database to plan and prioritise activities.•Provide support and advice to ranger group facilitators to implement activities or projects supporting Indigenous engagement such as: advice on policy issues, regional processes, training opportunities, stakeholder needs, sponsorship opportunities, technical and scientific sources advice etc.•Provide advice to the NLC and Aboriginal people on matters relating to environmentally sustainable development, conservation of biodiversity and employment in natural and cultural resource management.•Identify appropriate new natural and cultural resource management issues and agendas for Caring forCountry Unit involvement.•Carry out high level consultations and negotiations and maintain effective and close liaison with relevant government agencies in relation to Aboriginal interests, participation and control of land and sea management, employment and economic development, and protection of the environment.•Identify and negotiate on-going funding support for the Caring for Country Unit.•Work with land management coordinators and rangers to determine employment and training needs and develop training and development plans for individuals.•Represent (as required) the Northern Land Council in various forums.
