Ever since I was young I have always been interested in the medical field. It originally started with my fascination with my grandfather's career. My interest really piqued when I started having knee pain in the 6th grade and I got my first orthopedist. What they did was so intriguing to me, and watching them analyze x-rays and MRIs with ease helped solidify the knowledge that I wanted to work in the medical field. Going in and out of hospitals and physical therapy offices has made me realize how many different types of jobs there are in the medical field and have helped me learn to appreciate all workers in health care. I took my interest and knowledge with me into high school and started taking numerous science and math courses to help me learn all I could about the human body and its functions and processes. I also started taking part in my school's HOSA chapter, a club for future health professionals to get involved in the community and take part in leadership roles around our area. In my first year participating in HOSA I qualified to go to the Missouri HOSA State Leadership Conference and took part in the Biomedical Laboratory Sciences Exam and placed 4th, I also qualified for the HOSA International Leadership Conference for my scores on the Health Care Issues Exam. I am in Aspiring Medical Professionals to gain access to a variety of careers in health care and learn more about the medical field.
