-Research on how prescribed fires affect reptiles-focal species being the Black Kingsnake (Lampropeltis nigra) and the Black Racer (Coluber constrictor) -Hiked roughly 10 miles a day to check 8 drift fences, which consisted of a 100 meter fence with 6 funnel traps and 4 pitfall buckets -Processed species caught using a PDA. All species were weighed, measured, and received an identifying mark. -Performed Vegetation Transects in each of the 8 sites two times. Each site had five transects, which consisted of taking vegetation density using a Nudds board, wind speed, ground and air temperature, overstory canopy density using a spherical densitometer, leaf litter depth, vegetation characterization, aspect, distance to closest understory/overstory tree and the species of that tree. This data was taken within a meter-squared area at points 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 of a 100-meter tape -Deployed and collected copper and foam models in each site measuring temperature and predation of snakes -Tested reptile thermal preference using a thermal gradient and took surface and internal body temperature -Learned how to properly handle and tube venomous snakes -Collected weather, wind, and humidity data using Weather Stations -Tracked eight snakes and one turtle using telemetry -Assisted with surgery to implant radio transmitters -Used computer programs, R Programming and ArcGis to, respectively, generate random points used for vegetation transects and to input GPS points found while tracking snakes using telemetry -Proficient in using a GPS and compass to traverse outdoor terrain
