Poverty caused by rural isolation affects nearly one billion people worldwide. Safe and reliable transport systems are essential in alleviating rural poverty by enabling access to healthcare, education, markets, and employment opportunities. As networked infrastructure underpins many of the United Nations' SDGs, improving transport for residents in the "last mile" can have widespread social and economic impacts. I am currently conducting research to better understand methodologies used to identify, prioritize, and implement rural networked transport infrastructure to enhance accessibility, foster economic growth, and promote sustainable development.
