Software Engineer

Redmond, Washington, Us

* Implemented test tools to assist in various types of testing of Forefront product* Implemented automated test cases that run on a daily basis with an expected 100% pass rate. * Made various helper classes to encapsulate common functionality across test code. * Worked to keep the product ‘workload agnostic’ so that automation was not dependent upon workload specific binaries for execution. Automation was also not aware of the current workload under which the product was executing. This allowed for “plug and play” automation code that needed no altering if any additional workload were supported. * Created testing mechanisms to plug-in to workloads to allow Forefront interaction to be tested. * Implemented a PowerShell wrapper to execute Exchange PowerShell cmdlets on automated machines. * Created a “Smoke-It” test application which ran as a web service to make it easier for members of the development team to run automation test passes with private builds (builds not generated by the build system) after making changes to code. This reduced the amount of product breaks and automation breaks. * Created new test infrastructure for next generation products * Wrote full test plans that include test requirements, design and goals. Test plan is reviewed by entire feature team (project management, development as well as test). * Wrote a test plan for the entire product for a milestone/release. This is typically done by leads in the Test department. After writing the test plan, drove it to completion by presenting it not only to the entire feature team (dev/test/pm for the product), but also to the entire quad (all feature teams within the quad, this consists of 4 feature teams) as well as all of the quad managers. After writing the test plan also SWAG’d the test items and created work items for other members of the team including myself. Drove the milestone to Test Complete on-time meeting all automation goals.
