Profile bio

About Brooke Strye

I recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor's of Science in Human Development and Family Studies this Spring. Through my major, I learned crucial elements of human development and behavior as well as the impact they have on a person’s life. I have been interested in people my whole life and with the knowledge I’ve attained, I want to put it towards working with people to improve their mental health and well-being.I'm currently taking a gap year to work as an Advanced Line Staff at Achieving Collaborative Treatment (ACT), which is an ABA therapy service for people with autism. I was recently promoted to this advanced position in September 2022. My work at ACT consists of mainly providing in-home therapy to clients, but also recording data, summarizing data, creating stimuli, and communicating with other therapists. From my work as a camp counselor to a line staff for people with autism, I have developed strong interpersonal skills, learned to quickly adapt to situations and to solve problems efficiently. These skills along with a positive mindset have allowed me to excel in the work I do with others. Using these skills as an advanced line staff makes it possible for me to provide productive and effective therapy to the clients I work with. In addition to these skills, I have learned to value feedback to help me improve the work I do. Receiving constructive criticism pushed me to improve as a camp counselor and continues to push me to improve as an Advanced line staff. Keeping an open mindset has allowed me to value the feedback people give me to ensure I am working to the best of my abilities. I want to put my skills and knowledge towards helping people improve their mental health and help them overcome physical, mental, and emotional obstacles present in their life. I believe everyone deserves to feel healthy both mentally and physically, and I want to be a part of the recovery process for people who are struggling. I am currently looking into clinical mental health counseling graduate programs and have a strong interest in a child and adolescent focus. My career goal is to become an Licensed Professional Counselor that works mainly with a younger generation.
