Since graduating from the Bachelor of Communication Studies program at Capilano University, I now work in the fast-paced world of Public Relations. From roles as junior publicist and publicist at Town Hall Brands, I’ve become savvy in media relations and brand management. Prior to my full-time position, I completed a Public Relations practicum at Town Hall Brands. It was this introduction to PR that taught me how to build relationships with the media, issue press releases, compose social media posts, and further my understanding of the communications landscape. During my stint as a university student-athlete, I learned how to effectively juggle multiple responsibilities and manage my time well. From this experience, I’ve realized that I enjoy working in team environments where I can exert my creativity while working efficiently. I’ve also worked as a Social Media Coordinator for Osamu Sushi Restaurant where I developed internal documents and managed their social media accounts (increasing their Instagram following by 23% over a four-week period). This client work allowed me to create and direct social media content, develop an internal newsletter, and use computing programs like Microsoft Office Suite, Canva and InDesign. As a publicist, I can efficiently manage multiple client accounts, promoting their business and reaching their target audiences with a clear message. As a university soccer player, I understand how to work with many different personalities. I feel comfortable taking charge of projects, working under stressful conditions and being a team leader. My background in customer service has given me strong communication skills which I use proactively.
