About Brooklyn Ratel
As a pre-medical student, I have gained valuable experience in both academic and clinical settings. My passion for medical research and dedication to excellence has led me to work as a student researcher in Stony Brook University's Stem Cell Engineering VIP Program where I've been investigating stem cell behavior and the usage of nanoparticles in wound healing. I am determined to apply my skills and knowledge in cell work and 3D bioprinting towards making a positive impact on the health of the public, and hope to contribute significantly to the field of medical research before I finish my degree.Outside of academia, I allow my passions to take flight in various ways. The classic strategy game of Catan gives me room to practice tactical allocation of resources and critical thinking. To further hone in on my creative analysis of situations, you’ll also often find me locked in a room – an escape room, that is. For the past few years, I’ve been challenging myself and friends to enter these immersive puzzle rooms with the goal of escaping with the fastest times conceivable, pushing our boundaries of problem-solving and teamwork to the limit. It's an exhilarating and rewarding experience that fuels my desire to embrace new challenges and continually grow as an individual. Whether it's through conducting research or indulging in my passions, I'm determined to make a difference and contribute to the world in a meaningful way. I'm deeply motivated to pursue a career in research as I'm intrigued by the endless potential to unravel complicated and intricate systems. With that, I'm eager to embrace the challenges that await me and to adopt an open mind and a willingness to explore the road less traveled.
