Profile bio

About Brooklyn Wiggins

I have always been interested in the kinetics and physiology of the human body. I come from a sport background, which opened my eyes to the world of injury and rehabilitation and eventually led me to pursue Kinesiology at the University of Calgary. Growing up in Alberta, I have been exposed to some of the world’s most incredible landscapes through hiking, skiing and sight seeing. It has been my experiences as a young adult in the world of sport and fitness and my exposure to inspiring professionals that has led to my interest in research and innovation. As a graduate student, I dedicate my time to researching neurophysiology and female endocrinology as I hone in on my skills as a leader, a volunteer and exercise oncology instructor. I find the brain and the spinal cord to be one of the most wondrous parts of the human body and my MSc research area focuses on learning more about it. Through my volunteering and now as an instructor, I work with exercise oncology and those who are affected by it to navigate how exercise can benefit individuals living with cancer. I am deeply passionate about medicine and the humanity side of healthcare. I aspire to work as a physician and I plan to work relentlessly to break down barriers in healthcare, specifically those affecting women’s health, socioeconomically disadvantaged and LGBTQIA2S+ groups. I am on LinkedIn to grow connections and find like-minded individuals to share interests and opportunities with and to help others do the same. If you feel the same way, I look forward to connecting with you.
