Summer internship working with the drilling and completions team focusing on natural gas production in the Haynesville Shale formation.

Worked closely with members from various fields of study in the drilling, completions, production, and enhanced recovery areas. Learned more about the fracking, artificial lift, directional drilling, well logging, and reservoir engineering processes. Gave a 90-minute presentation to Sequitur executives covering drilling, completions, production, and enhanced recovery upon completion of the internship.

Participated in a study conducted by The University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University focusing on the effects of fatigue on drillers. In order to participate in the study, I was taught how to effectively operate UT's state-of-the-art drilling simulator. After completing the training sessions, I was able to trip pipe in and out of the hole, make and break connections, drill at an appropriate ROP/torque/WOB depending on the formation (parameters were given), change the weight of the mud being pumped downhole, and handle unexpected situations such as taking and circulating out kicks and shutting in the well.
