Lifelong learner via Fine Arts! Big Picture thinker, Character Ed. driven classroom teacher PreK-12th grade. In 1979, I became co-owner/director of The Creative Alternative, a Fine Arts oriented teaching studio for ages 3-Adult. In 1982, I taught Art part-time at the Middle and High School levels for Stratford Academy in Macon until the birth of my first son. From 1986-1995, The Creative Alternative included a Fine Arts oriented half-day Preschool program which continues to this day as a summer ART! Day Camp program. In 2003, I was hired as a full-time Art teacher for Bibb Co. Public Schools after working for 3 years as an artist-in-residence in several local elementary schools as part of a GA Challenge Grant. I was displaced twice when my Art position was removed after working for two years in a split position as an Art teacher and elementary Gifted teacher. After being widowed in 2008, my last 3 years were spent at Rutland High School in Macon. In the 10 years I worked for the public school system, I have remained a certified Art Educator K-12, become Highly Qualified, Gifted Endorsed/Certified and certified for AP Portfolio . I currently serve as president for GA Art Education Association District 5 (see gaeaartforall.org). Other community activity include Board Member for The 567 Center for Renewal in Macon, member of the Macon Arts Alliance's Arts Roundtable. Above all I am the proud mother of 2 Eagle Scouts: one son now a certified Chef, one son an indie musician/artist and entrepreneur.Currently, I am in LOVE with my two grandsons who are 2 and 3 years old!
