Worked as a reporter for News21, a national reporting project based out of Phoenix, Arizona at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. Brooks, along with 35 other fellows, are spending the summer working on long-form pieces about hate crimes in America. Brooks worked as a writer, editor of the team's blog, and admin for the social media team.

Served as the Editor-in-Chief of DePauw University's student-run newspaper, The DePauw. His responsibilities ranged from editing every article, planning the news content for every print issue and online content, reporting on major campus events, and meeting with campus officials, among others.
