About Emma Brooks, Otd, Otr/L

I am a dedicated and passionate doctor of occupational therapy who is just starting my career as an OT. Though new to the field, I believe I bring a fresh perspective and am deeply committed to promoting health and wellness for individuals and communities. I have a passion for occupational therapy and preventative care which began during my studies in grad school, where I gained hands-on experience through leadership positions, fieldwork, and volunteer work. My approach to occupational therapy is holistic and client-centered, emphasizing the importance of empowering individuals to take an active role in their own health and wellness. I am passionate about primary care and promoting healthy behaviors that can help individuals not only avoid illness and injury but create a meaningful life. I aim to enhance awareness and understanding of the occupational therapy profession while advocating for its true values and principles. It is my aspiration to emphasize the importance of trauma-informed care as an essential component for all healthcare services.I recently completed my doctoral capstone project at Eskenazi Health, where I focused on researching burnout among occupational therapists to develop programs that address the health and well-being of occupational therapists and I hope to continue to address burnout in any setting I participate in. I eagerly anticipate expanding my scope of practice into primary care where I can focus on preventive measures and early interventions to address health conditions, promote healthy lifestyles, optimize functional abilities, and enhance overall well-being.
