Assistant DirectorArkansas Department Of Higher Education Sep 2008 - May 2012Little Rock, Arkansas, UsProgram management, grant writing, grant administration and higher education policy implementation.Best memory: I basically started off at a desk job as a researcher, but eventually ended up working directly for the department Director. I attended every high-level meeting in his place that the Director could not attend. I traveled the state and the country, met with some amazing people, all of whom care deeply about higher education in America, and administered multiple programs that represented several million dollar projects which reached all corners of the state. The toughest part about ADHE was saying goodbye. -
FellowVirginia Resources Authority Aug 2006 - Jul 2007Richmond, Va, UsDuring my masters program at VCU, I learned about and participated in bond financing for local government entities, strategic planning, event planning, and legislative/policy implementation.Best memory: The staff took small magnetic, building-block sets (VRA-logoed) to legislators and their staff during the session. I met some of the nicest people doing that and also got to speak with nearly every Virginia legislator or their senior staff person. They all got a kick out of the building set. -
Jr. Policy AnalystVirginia Department Of Transportation May 2005 - Aug 2006Richmond, Va, UsDuring my masters program at VCU, I worked alongside Sr. Policy Analyst in the review of and implementation of transportation-related policy for the state of Virginia. I also worked as an event planner for VDOT's annual, state-wide transportation conference.Best memory: Leaving. Sorry, there were some amazing people and some not-so-amazing people at VDOT. I have come to learn that people make all the difference. The best jobs I have ever had were the ones where people worked as a team and were genuinely nice to each other. -

InternBaptist Health May 1999 - Aug 2000Little Rock, Arkansas, UsIntern for the Information Systems Division: Primary responsibility was to assist and learn from Senior Network Analysts; assisted in the "Y2K" project; specialized in software and hardware upgrades to desktop workstations; instructed on LAN/WAN implementation and operation.Best memory: Staying up past midnight new year's eve, 1999, in the data center for the Y2K project. InternUnited States Senate May 1998 - Aug 1998Washington, District Of Columbia, UsIntern for Sen. Dale Bumpers, attended and produced reports on committee hearings; evaluated constituent mail; composed letters on behalf of the Senator; responded to telephone inquiries; archived files, bills and resolutions.Best memory: This was Sen. Bumpers final year in Congress, and a few of us were asked to start going through all of his papers and archives to get them ready to be housed somewhere else. The work took place in a fenced-off area in the attic (literal attic) of one of the congressional office buildings. It was the middle of summer, crazy hot, but something that few congressional interns ever got to do. It was a true honor.
