Detroit Leads is a two-year experience-based fellowship for educators with 5+ years of experience currently serving as or aspiring to become school leaders in Detroit. During their two years, fellows grow in the skills, habits, and knowledge necessary to become authentic, culturally responsive school leaders ready to lead systems change. Through executive coaching, quarterly workshops, 360 survey reflection, and an annual Excellent Schools visit, fellows see impact in their individual development and in the school communities they serve. -Taught 7th & 8th Grade Mathematics-Engaged in professional development activities, including discussion groups, workshops, and individual/group reflections-Used open communication with parents and students via DeansList, text messaging, phone calling, and parent/teacher conferencing-Instructed students with learning disabilities-Created weekly progress reports for parents and students-Certified

-Supervised 6 CODE 313 teaching sessions and provided instructional feedback to 4 teachers-Supervised 2 Mentor Teachers mentor and coach 3 first-year teachers-Communicated with CODE 313 and the DSLI Summer Enrichment Director daily to continually improve teaching practices, while also troubleshooting areas of concern and deepening the cohesiveness of the partnership-Provided actionable, honest, and supportive feedback to 10 teachers to aid them in their professional growth

-Successfully completed Teach For America’s Corps in 2 years-Taught 7th grade Mathematics for 2 years and 11th&12th grade African American Studies for 1 year-Engaged in professional development activities, including discussion groups, workshops, and individual/group reflections-Used open communication with parents and students via Class Dojo, text messaging, phone calling, and parent/teacher conferencing-Instructed students with learning disabilities-Created weekly progress reports for parents and students-Taught middle and high school students the basics and principles of chess, and led the ‘Chess Club’ composed of approximately 5 students-Certified

-Developed and supervised all locational and directional signage for the entire Houston Institute, composed of approximately 250 people-Headed and conducted all interviews for the Houston Institute’s IGNITE Blog, consisting of approximately 20 interviews-Organized and managed all of the pictures and videos taken at the Houston Institute, forming compiled folders from approximately 1,000 pictures-Reorganized and influenced the Houston Institute’s mobile application, used by all attendees of the Institute

-Designed, developed, and innovated interactive, scientific modules for middle school students in Alabama’s Black Belt Region-Published co-author of “The Balloon Inflator” for the Alabama Learning Exchange, an entity of the Alabama State Department of Education

-Walton K-12 Fellow-Designed and developed workshops on various topics for approximately 15 high school males-Managed a team of approximately 5 high school students who taught elementary students math-Improved approximately 20 elementary students’ mathematical skills by interactive games and using direct instruction

-Educated hundreds of customers about different types of shoes-Assisted hundreds of customers in getting the right and proper shoes-Contributed in structuring the stock room daily-Ranked among the best sellers of the store monthly

-Supervised approximately 10 campers between the ages of eight and thirteen-Managed approximately 10 campers while on field trips-Developed approximately 10 campers knowledge through reading and critical thinking discussions
