About Jenn Brown

Hi, I’m Jenn Brown, a passionate advocate for creating real, meaningful change in communities and the environment. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to work that bridges big ideas with tangible impacts. Right now, I’m lucky enough to do just that as a Special Advisor for Implementation at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. My focus is on helping communities—especially those historically underserved—benefit from climate action. Through the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant Program, I’ve developed resources and strategies that empower grantees to engage communities in building plans that are not only strategic but also deeply inclusive and community-driven.Before joining the EPA, I helped launch the Carbon Removal Justice Fellowship as a Project Manager at the Institute for Responsible Carbon Removal. That role was all about connecting the dots—between people, programs, and priorities. I loved the experience of shaping the fellowship’s vision and facilitating dialogue to explore the intersections between carbon removal deployment and environmental justice considerations. My academic path also reflects my curiosity about the world and my drive to understand complex challenges. I earned a Master’s in Global Environmental Policy from American University, diving into topics like sustainable agriculture, land rights, and fisheries. Before that, I studied Journalism at the University of Hawaii, which gave me the foundation to share ideas in ways that resonate.I’ve also been fortunate to experience the world in unique ways—literally. Earlier in my career, I worked in the maritime industry, traveling across continents and learning from different cultures across the world. Those experiences taught me the value of adaptability, connection, and seeing challenges through multiple perspectives.Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue working on projects that center communities and create on-the-ground change. I’m particularly drawn to opportunities that combine sustainability and equity on a global scale. Whether it’s collaborating with international teams, crafting strategies to tackle global environmental challenges, or working in cross-cultural settings to promote ESG initiatives, I’m eager to build solutions that have both local and global impact. If I had to sum up my strengths, I’d say I thrive at connecting people and ideas, creating strategies that work in the real world, and bringing a collaborative, empathetic touch to everything I do.Let’s build something great together.
