About Bruce Adolphe

During this pandemic, I was fortunate enough to have one live performance of a world premiere — the brilliant violinist Daniel Hope played and narrated the first performance of "The Nightingale" (for which I also wrote a very updated text). You can hear the premiere (filmed by arte.tv in Daniel's Berlin living room) by scrolling 9 minutes into this video:https://www.arte.tv/de/videos/097148-018-A/hope-home-episode-28/ (paste into browser)There were several recent performances of "I Will Not Remain Silent", a violin concerto based on the life of Joachim Prinz, an outspoken rabbi in Berlin during the Hitler regime, and later in the U.S., a civil rights activist and friend of Martin Luther King, Mr. The premiere in 2015 was performed by violinist Sharon Roffman with the IRIS Orchestra conducted by Michael Stern; the next performance was by the Human Rights Orchestra in Lucern, conducted by Alessio Allegrini with violin soloist Ilya Gringolts. In January 2017, the day after the inauguration and the day of the Women's March, violinist and activist Daniel Hope played the concerto with Jeffrey Kahane conducting the LA Chamber Orchestra. In 2018, Daniel Hope played the concerto in Germany with the Essen Philharmonie on a program he curated called Heimat, featuring works about immigration, displacement, war, and searching for a home. The River Oaks Chamber Orchestra presented the concerto with soloist Scott St. John, conducted by Michael Stern. Violinist Joshua Bell and pianist Marija Stroke recorded my score to the Nickolas Barris film "Einstein's Light" released by Sony Classical. Check it out on iTunes or amazon under the title "Einstein's Light". The score reflects Einstein's love of Mozart and Bach, and Einstein's devotion to playing violin throughout his life. My piano concerto was premiered in 2016 by Italian pianist Carlo Grante with Fabio Luisi conducting the Zürich Philharmonia. Carlo released a CD on Naxos American Classics of two of piano works I composed for him: CHOPIN DREAMS and SEVEN THOUGHTS CONSIDERED AS MUSIC. See my website bruceadolphe.com for more information on upcoming events, concerts, lectures.
