Current

As the Health and Safety Officer at Carters my primary role is maintaining the Health, Safety and Wellness of over 40 staff. Carters are part of the ACC Accredited Employer program and as part of this I managed the Audit in June. We passed with flying colours. I manage daily standups and organise all contractors that come on site. I have also taken a significant role in reducing risks including:- Reducing over stock in timber yard- Setting up simple mechanical gate systems to reduce falling (it can’t be opened unless the other is closed)- Working with team members to explain and get them on board with their own safety

Project Manager

Tauranga Bridge Marina

Project managed the replacement of mooring lines after an oil spill in the harbour. Set up a 40 foot container and assembled a make shift, temporary rigging shop for 3 months. Damage assessment report completed, Estimated the materials needed for the project and created a timeline for completion. In conjunction with the cleanup crews I developed an action plan that delivered the most time efficient and cost-effective outcome for all the stakeholders in the marina. Results: hundreds of happy boat owners. Key responsibilities mostly revolved around the oil spill and filling in for the team when they were taking leave. I was in the process of being trained up on their booking systems and other administrative duties. Also, I operated the RIB assisting boats berthing and towing vessels to and from the hardstand. Maintenance duties included everything from changing lightbulbs to rebuilding pontoons after storms.
