Fleet Operation Supervisor
CurrentMy position exists to maintain the Central Equipment Agency for the City of Appleton. The Central Equipment Agency is made up of cars, pick-up trucks, heavy duty trucks, aerial trucks, graders, sewer trucks, loaders, refuse trucks, sweepers and small equipment. There are approximately 400 vehicles valued at over $20 million dollars and approximately 240 small pieces of equipment valued at over $7 million. I manage the daily fleet operations and supervise 9 mechanics and 2 servicemen that work 3 shifts covering 24 hours a day at four different shop locations. Every year, I put together a balanced budget for the Central Equipment Agency, set vehicle replacement reserve funds for the user departments, create equipment specifications, recommend vehicle purchases and liquidate old equipment.My position impacts the organization in multiple ways. As Fleet Maintenance Supervisor for the City of Appleton my position is responsible to maintain all vehicles and equipment in good working order at all times. I am also responsible for maintaining equipment history information via the Asset Management System. I attend Fleet Meetings to stay abreast of new technology and recommend such replacements when appropriate.
