I was the kid in 3rd grade who had no interest in being in the school play, all I wanted to do was make the sets and props. The kid behind the curtain if you will, making cool stuff appear effortlessly. I spent my school years following that very thrill, which over time turned into a passion for all things product and an insatiable appetite for curiosity.My curious nature is what drove me into the design, building, making, and problem solving of real product. I was and still am driven by the how and why of product development.In 1985 I started my own design/build firm. My expertise was exhibits for trade shows, and that totally fueled my passion for learning about product. How was I supposed to highlight our customers product if I did not immerse myself in all of its unique attributes? After ten years I sold the company and went to work for a winter sports company as their brand manager over all of its product offerings. Helmets, beanies, backpacks, underwear, gloves, socks, tools, waxes and even a shovel that could be converted into an herbalizer. Call me to discuss that further if you want. Through all of this I became a packaging expert as well, which is almost more important than the product itself. I spent those years traveling Asia and Europe, sourcing the best factories to manufacture at the highest level of quality and value.My next act took me into the decorative lighting world, where I spent 12 years identifying product gaps, materials, colors and proper illumination. I met designers, architects, retailers and compliance cops. I learned so much about the world of lighting and how it can impact personal moods, and transform an environment from so so to amazing.The year 2020 was a year of reckoning, and I needed desperately to be deeper into the diversified world of product development. That's when I found Product Evo, a boutique sized shop helping small to mid sized companies with their product development challenges. Now I am totally in my sweet spot, the variety keeps me engaged, the curiosity keeps me relevant and the problem solving gives me deep rewards.
